The hormone progesterone
has many biologic activities among which is stimulating
the lining of the uterus (endometrium) to thicken
and become more vascular. The endometrium must develop properly to accept an implanting embryo and support
its development.
After the egg is released from the
follicle, the remaining structure is know as the corpus
luteum. The corpus luteum begins to produce progesterone
to support the early stages of embryo development.
The placenta will begin progesterone production shortly
after embryo implantation.
Progesterone is prescribed to
support endometrial development and is available as
injections, suppositories, gels, compounded, and creams.
Burman's can make progesterone products to meet your physicians recommendation.
